Welcome! Your journey to the land of the rising sun starts here! I’m Issie, originally from Britain with a life-long love of travel and culture. Especially culture completely different from the British way of life. I moved to Japan straight out of University at the ripe age of 21 to work as an English teacher, the typical first job for expats with minimal Japanese language knowledge. I originally wanted to create this website as a way to share my experiences of living in one of the most fascinating countries in the world. But the longer I lived here, the more I noticed that our western knowledge of life in Japan is actually quite minimal… hence why my culture shock felt more like a culture heart attack! The year of 2019 brought much anticipation and focus on the country; with events such as the rugby world cup and the Tokyo Olympics. I started to noticed that more people were willing to travel into a country of the unknown; I received many messages from friends of friends asking for advice on where to stay and the best places to go. So I decided to update my ideas slightly, and broaden the horizon of this blog. Now, not only will this be your NUMBER ONE destination to experience a flavour of true Japanese life, but also a place for you to reach the most original and exclusive travel tips on experiencing deep into the very heart of this country.
